Gigi Hadid has a new denim wardrobe in mind, and it goes well beyond the usual jeans-and-jacket combination.

The model has teamed up with Italian label Liu Jo to curate The Gigi Hadid Edit, a selection of pieces chosen from her own perspective on personal style. The first drop is devoted entirely to denim, with oversized jackets, matching looks, digital prints and Western-inspired boots giving the familiar fabric a little more room to play.

I have always liked denim best when it does not look too perfectly put together. A good pair of jeans is one thing, but matching denim from head to toe can be much more interesting when the cuts, finishes and proportions are not all playing by the same rules.

That seems to be the thinking behind this edit.

Overshirts, bomber jackets and Napoleon jackets form the backbone of the collection, taking denim beyond the familiar five-pocket jeans and trucker jacket. Some pieces feature digital prints applied directly to the fabric, while decorative details and worn-in finishes give others a more individual look. Worn together, the pieces make a case for a full denim outfit. Separately, they offer plenty of options for anyone who prefers to mix things up.

Personally, I would start with an oversized denim bomber and a pair of jeans that do not match it too neatly. Add a simple top and leather cowboy boots, and you have a look that borrows from Western dressing without requiring a hat, a belt buckle and the entire cowboy wardrobe.

Speaking of boots, the footwear deserves a look of its own.

The leather cowboy boots feature tonal stitching, tactile finishes and Western-inspired details, giving them enough character to stand alongside the denim without competing with it. I would wear them with relaxed jeans, naturally, but they could also work with a denim mini or a longer skirt. The trick is to let the boots do their thing rather than dressing everything else around them.

Hadid describes the edit as a reflection of personal identity. “Every look tells a story and every selection is a statement of identity,” she says, adding that Liu Jo shares her belief in personal style and self-expression.

For Liu Jo, denim is a natural place to begin. The fabric has long been part of the Italian label’s wardrobe, and the collaboration brings Hadid’s own perspective to its familiar pieces. Maurizio Croceri, chief executive officer of parent company Exelite S.p.A., sees the project as a way to introduce the brand to a new audience while building on one of its established strengths.

The first Gigi Hadid Edit is all about finding different ways to wear something most of us already own. A denim bomber, a printed jacket or a pair of cowboy boots can change the feel of an outfit without requiring an entirely new wardrobe.

And if you are anything like me, you probably do not need another pair of jeans.

But a good denim jacket? That is a rather different story.
